20 Extra Pounds does not want to Hill Climb

The first TNT ride of the new season caught me by surprise! It was a short 12 mile ride to the Jemez Dam. The night before I had 4 hours sleep , did not hydrate well and thought the ride would be an easy flat 12 miles and nothing to plan much for! Was I mistaken! This was a hilly 4.5% grade that switched back and forth up and down these mesa hills and they caught me! I could not get up a few and then I got mad at myself. All last season, I got up every hill...even if very slowly! This was my wake up call!

I have put on 20 pounds since the inactivity and anger of the accident and how it derailled my plans to cycle the century in Tucson. This 20 extra pounds does not want to hill climb! Just envision carrying 20 extra pounds in your camel back! URGH. It does not want to go up, up, up!

So, my wake up call is to get consistent on my food plan and report to you here as to how I am doing. Hope I do not bore you...but I need to be accountable. I am being accountable to my mentor in TNT also...but this is more public! I will let you know each week how my weight is doing.

See below for pics from the ride and then further below for Tom's killer spin class pics at Concrette Systems warehouse!

New Beginnings

New
Beginnings!
I am finally back in business and back on track and it feels sooooo good! I am eating clean and have lost 6 pounds and have gotten good news from the PT and kineseo taper that they are seeing improvement. I am getting stronger at last! This accident has been extremely debilitating . I am finally beginning to lift again...although what used to be 80 pounds is now 5. BUT!!!!! I will take it. Inch by Inch it is a cinch! Patience has never been my strongest suit, and that is what I am being taught here...at least one of the things.

I have been cycling indoors and out....indoors using the Spinervals work outs..."The Uphill Grind" and will start Tom Hendrick's spin class beginning this Thurs . night. Will try to take some pics.

I will start training with Team in Training again beginning Feb. 7th and am very excited about that! Next up is another Triathlon April 12th then the century in Lake Tahoe called America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride. Keep posted! More news to come!

The Best Christmas Gift!

I saw the surgeon yesterday for my shoulder and he said that at this time, I do not need surgery, that he is not convinced that surgery will help! He said that the tendons are still very swollen in m y shoulder and he feels that is creating the impingement at this time. So, he gave me a shot of cortisone and told me he thinks this will help. I go back in 2 months. Meanwhile I can continue cycling and amp up my exercise again...continue with the PT, chiro, kiniseo taping and massage. YEAH! This is the best gift ever!

I was passed by Santa, going uphill, singing Jingle Bells

She looks nice!....but don't be fooled! There is nothing like being passed by Santa...esp.when you are going up a grueling hill and she is singing!

Anyway, my mission in life became to pass Santa on a flat or hill, but honestly, she left me in the dust...until the transition area...where she was exhausted and told me so and we did beat her in the long run....well Jeanne did!
We came in fourth place! We are thinking that we would like to do a triathlon each quarter! We had a wonderful race and are now planning our next race!!!! Go team! See more photos below!
